It’s her turn!

Transitioning through puberty

Help your daughter experience a positive transition into adulthood

Are you ready to guide her?

  • Do you feel prepared to talk to your daughter about puberty?
  • Do you feel embarrassed to talk about the female body?
  • Do you even know where to begin?

Puberty is a defining phase

  • Adolescence is a pivotal stage of life.
  • It can determine how a young person will view or interact with the world as an adult.
  • It can shape her future in many ways you may never have even thought of before.

She deserves the right start

  • There is so much information and misinformation available to us nowadays.
  • Wouldn’t it be great to have all the information you need, to support you and your daughter through puberty, in one place?

Hi ! I’m Colette

Your Menstrual Health Coach

I am a registered Nutritional Therapist, Post-Primary Home Economics teacher in Ireland, with 18 years of training and classroom experience combined, as well as a holistic therapist of Reiki Energy Healing and Sound Therapy.

Life itself is the best teacher, and it has been through my own personal health journey in attempting to seek a diagnosis in endometriosis that spiked my interest in health and nutrition.  My own personal and professional experiences over the years have often left me wondering, if I had learned more about my body growing up, would I have spent years suffering (physically and mentally), if I really knew how to manage what was happening every month?

I don’t want this for generations to come, so I want to pass on my learning, my knowledge and my passion to you and your daughter. We will do this by looking at the physiological changes that occur during puberty, but also the mental and emotional changes that are going on also.  I want to empower you both to feel confident, accepting, grounded and privileged to move through such a crucial phase with ease and flow.  Blossom has you both at the core.  It is designed to help you grow and nurture your relationship with your daughter through this pivotal time of her life, but to also allow and encourage YOU to reconnect with your cycle too.  Blossom is much more than a course on understanding menstrual health, it’s much needed and is the start of something very big for me.

Colette x

Why is such a course needed?

  • Overworked education systems – Education has not caught up with the demands and needs of teenage girls to move through puberty effortlessly and gracefully.
  • Online influence – with so much (mis)information out there wouldn’t it be great to have all this information in one place?
  • Mental health issues – an overwhelmed health care system means there is a lack of support in schools, in state and privately run services, that previously would have met the needs of our teens.
  • Poverty/Violence/Stigma/Exclusion – Some of the consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions that surround menstrual health and life in general.

What if there was a course to help you bridge this gap?

    A course that would help;

    • Strengthen your relationship with your daughter?
    • Empower your daughter to menstruate with dignity and strength.
    • Build body confidence and acceptance in your daughter.
    • Help guide you and your daughter through the ebbs and flows of adolescence.
    • Empower you personally, with a hub of knowledge, support and clarity, all in one place.

    What is Blossom?

Blossom is a power-packed interactive video course covering EVERY aspect of puberty,

that has been developed from years of classroom experience and thorough research.

    Your Blossom modules

The physical and mental changes during puberty

If you’re worried about how your daughter will move through puberty, this module is the first step in guiding her to feeling safe and confident in herself. I open up the conversation on puberty and explore the changes she will experience physically and mentally. She will complete Module one armed with plenty of information and tools to support her through this phase of life.

    The female body

Blossom is here to empower and educate our next generation. Module two doesn’t sugarcoat what you really need to know. It delves into the correct terminology for the female genitals and reproductive organs, and, if you’re uncomfortable with this topic, I have a few tricks to help you and your daughter feel more comfortable about  looking at various diagrams or worksheets and using the correct anatomical terms.  Your daughter will really start to understand the importance of ‘knowing’ and tuning into her body in Module two

    Breast Development and Breast care

This module will help your daughter understand the changes she will start to experience as her breasts begin to ‘bud’ and why exactly it is happening.  We’ll look at the anatomy of the female breast and explore what’s ‘normal’ or ‘not normal’ when it comes to breast shape and size, nipples and lots more. As we should all understand how to look after our breasts as females, your daughter will learn what exactly is breast check, and become more aware of how to care for her breasts growing up.

Hair growth - Body hair and pubic hair growth

Blossom loves to explain the science behind everything, so Module four gets to the ‘root’ of hair growth. It examines the structure of hair and how and where hair develops during puberty. It also looks at the pros and cons of most hair removal options so that your daughter is informed on the choices available to her should she wish to remove body hair.

Signs your first period is approaching

Module five will explore some of the signs that her first period is approaching. We delve into understanding what exactly is vaginal discharge and how it communicates with us.  I also answer some common FAQ’s every girl wants to ask. Your daughter should be starting to feel much more comfortable in her body as she experiences these changes she is going through

The science behind your Menstrual cycle

This module comes in three parts: Part one, we look at the phases of the menstrual cycle and what exactly is a period.  This then flows into part two where we connect the phases with the hormones causing these changes.  Part three your daughter will get to look at various period products available to her, and how she can care for herself during her period.

    Tuning into your cycle

My favourite Module! This is the one that ‘joins all the dots’! You’ve both been immersed in science up until now (plus lots of other fun activities in the workbook and additional resources), but now we start to tune in to the ebbs and flows of the female cycle. Your daughter will learn how to track her cycle. She will learn how to tune into the ‘seasons of her cycle’, and why for example, at certain times of the month she might feel low, or she doesn’t want to go to her football match, while at other times she’s like a little duracell bunny! She will also learn how diet and lifestyle can affect her cycle, and develop an understanding of menstrual issues, such as PMS and heavy periods, and what she can do to help alleviate these problems (if she suffers with such issues).

    Caring for you

Module eight is packed full of information on how your daughter can support her body from here on in. We explore; lifestyle practices such as sleep practices, types of exercise for the phases of her cycle, tips on how to understand and handle her mental and emotional health during the phases of her cycle, and we look at skin health and skin tips during puberty too.

    Female contraception

As many young girls end up being prescribed birth control to help alleviate heavy periods, or PMS, this module takes an unbiased approach towards contraception. It will look at different types of contraception available, the pros and cons of each, and how she can support her body depending on her (and yours too) choice to use female contraception or not.

    Bonus Modules

    …but that’s not all!

To really empower you and your daughter, and to help her understand her body on a whole new level! I have included not one… but

    TWO BONUS modules!

Designed to keep you both informed and bring you even further on this journey.

    Knowledge is power after all!

    Sexually Transmitted Infections

Module 10 looks at what exactly are Sexually Transmitted Infections.  We look at different STI’s.  How to protect yourself from STI’s and we chat briefly about safe sex.

    The Endocrine System

We will look at the endocrine system in a simple and easy way.  Your daughter will gain lots of tips and tricks on how to help regulate and care for her endocrine system supporting topics such as hormonal support, dietary support and nervous system regulation throughout Blossom.

What age group is this course aimed at?

Blossom has been designed for girls aged 12-15 years old.  However, Blossom is still suitable for girls a little younger too.  If your daughter has started to show signs of puberty, signing up and preparing yourself with the knowledge and materials ahead of her getting her first period is a really good idea.  If you’re still unsure if it is suitable, please get in touch by using our contact form below.

Do I need to do this course with my daughter?

Blossom has been designed for you, the parent, to complete with your daughter.  If she is under 16 she should not be accessing our online portal on her own.  Once you have completed each module, it might be possible to leave her to re-watch some videos, but we strongly advise you are still present.

Do you offer nutritional support within the course?

No, the information provided within Blossom is not designed to be used for medical or underlying health conditions.  Blossom is an educational resource to be used at home.  It contains general information that aims to support and empower your daughter through this phase of her life.

What if my daughter has already started her period is Blossom appropriate?

That’s great if she has – congratulations to your daughter (we’re all about celebrating periods here at Blossom). The answer to your question is Yes! Blossom is still 100% appropriate.  It will educate your daughter on all of the changes she has already gone through and empower her to really get to know her body and how to look after her body.

What is not covered in Blossom?

Whilst we mention safe sex, consent and fertilisation really briefly in Blossom, we do not explore sex, sexual reproduction or pregnancy… stay tuned for that one though, we’ve only just started;)

What if I don’t agree with some of the content?

That is totally fine! You know your daughter better than anyone here at Blossom, so if you’re not happy just move on from that particular topic.

    How does Blossom work?

Blossom will release one module a week once you sign up.  The reason being is so that you and your daughter become comfortable and confident with the content, but also because we do not want you to rush through this course.  Blossom is a ‘life course’, we suggest you pick a day every week to sit and work through this course together and make it an exciting time of the week for both of you.  You can also stop and start the videos as you wish. Once you have completed each module, all modules will be ‘open’ for you to go back over as often as you like.

Can I do this course on my phone?

We would recommend you complete the course on a tablet, laptop or PC.  The course contains diagrams, illustrations, charts plus lots more, so a larger screen would certainly be more appropriate.

What if I can’t afford to pay for Blossom right now?

We totally understand the pressures of life right now here at Blossom.  We want to make this course accessible to every girl possible – because it is her right to know and understand her body! So, please do not feel embarrassed to get in touch and we can discuss a payment plan. Contact us by using the contact form below.

Will my daughter not learn this in school?

Your daughter will probably learn the basics of puberty in school, so that’s a great start – the conversation has started!  Blossom is designed to go that one step further and really empower her to understand herself better and her body better.

Can I share this with other family members or friends?

Blossom is for single use only, it is designed only for you and your daughter(s).  You will have your own login details for the course, so we would appreciate you keeping these to yourself.  Our nifty software can pick up on multiple users or logins on your account so please do not share this material, as it could result in your membership being revoked.

Can I share this in my classroom or another professional setting?

No! If you are found to be using or copying this material in any way other than for its sole purpose, we will have no other choice but to take legal action.  Blossom has been created with parents and daughters at the core, please respect the time, the expenses, the passion and care that has gone into creating Blossom.  Blossom will be available to schools and other settings in the coming weeks.

    What others are saying

‘Colette really kindly gifted my daughter and I early access to Blossom and I can’t put into words just how helpful it is right now.  Personally, I have learnt so much already.  I feel so much more prepared to have ‘the chat’ with my daughter and I feel like I will be fit to answer her questions now. I’m so glad we have this resource now that we can keep tapping into when she wants to know more, or needs something explained again.  I’m delighted she will have all the right information too, and I don’t have to worry about her learning it incorrectly from friends.  This platform has put my mind at ease, there’s enough worrying to be done with raising a teen in this world, but now I know we have a helping hand with Blossom.’

    What others are saying

‘Having known Colette for years, I know just how passionate she is about teaching others and helping them to understand their bodies.  I’ve always felt reassured and comfortable chatting to her about my own menstrual issues, but more recently my daughters also.  There’s so much information available to grown women nowadays, but whilst trying to help my daughter, I realised how little support was actually available.  I didn’t want to put my daughter on birth control for her heavy periods or her PMS, so I went to Colette, as a friend, for some nutritional advice on what we could do at home.  Her advice was very reassuring and effective, she knew how to chat to my little lady and I could see my daughter’s curious eyes light up as Colette explained why she might be experiencing such painful periods.  I’m so proud of what she has produced and beyond excited for so many more moms and daughters to get involved.’

    What others are saying

‘Wow! If you’re hesitant in signing up to Blossom, you’re going to miss out.  I have been so privileged to be a part of this journey with Colette and am beyond impressed and blown away with the attention to detail throughout.  I genuinely wish I had this resource growing up! I came to Colette as a nutritional therapy client a while back to help address my own menstrual issues and have watched this course grow and ‘Blossom’.  It is packed with so much wisdom and knowledge and the ‘intention’ behind every single part of this course is just beautiful!’
